Kevin Robbins
So sorry to read of Tom's passing, he was the quintessential big brother to a lot of us younger kids in the neighborhood. He did everything from helping us fix our bikes to building ramps so we could jump our bikes to getting us organized in clearing the snow off the pond on the corner so we could go skating and play hockey.
I remember before we even had our own bikes Tom would tie a wagon to the back of his and then each of us would take turns speeding around the circle in tow, sliding around the corners and having a blast while he seemed to tirelessly keep on pedaling for us.
When I got my first car and had to fix the drum brakes I was hesitant in taking them apart because of all the parts and springs involved but then Tom, who just happened to be passing by, came over and showed me how to lay all of the pieces out on the ground as I took them off in a way that I could remember how to put it all back together again.
I feel very lucky to have had a guy like Thomas Hynes in my neighborhood as a kid growing up, rest in peace my friend.
