Robert "Bob" J. Carroll's Obituary
Robert J. Carroll. (Bob), 81, a long-time resident of North Andover, MA, passed away unexpectedly at Prescott House, North Andover, on the morning of May 1, 2025.
He was born in Lawrence on June 3, 1943, son of the late Francis and Olivia (Mello) Carroll. He grew up in North Andover and graduated from North Andover High School where he was on the track team, the wrestling team and the football team. After graduating from high school, he worked at Raytheon in Andover and later went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force for 4 yrs. He was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas and spent the rest of his time serving as a medic in the Azores. Upon his return he worked as the nighttime admitting officer at the Lawrence General Hospital and later went on to work as a postal letter carrier for the North Andover and Lawrence Post Offices where he was employed for over 30 years.
He married Donna (Blanchette) whom he has been married to for over 51 years
Anyone who knew Bob knew that he was an avid Red Sox fan as well as being a Patriots fan. He was one of the originators of St. Michael's 1000 club and more recently belonged to St. Michael's Mens Group. He also volunteered at St. Theresa's Church, Methuen and later put up chairs for his home at Sutton Pond, North Andover. (He proudly called himself the chairman of the Social Committee).
He was predeceased by his 4 siblings, the late Francis Carroll, the late William Carroll, the late Rite Claire (Carroll) Maglione and the late Olivia (Carroll) Runge. He is survived by his wife, Donna, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in his name on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 11:30AM at St. Michael Church, 196 Main St. North Andover, MA. A rite of committal will follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
Friends and family are invited to call on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home Inc. 35 Merrimack St. North Andover, MA.
