Mrs. Patricia Ann Finneran's Obituary
Mrs. Patricia A. Finneran of Andover, MA, a devoted mother of five and grandmother to six, a registered nurse, avid gardener, and beloved friend passed away on July 31, 2017. She was 86.
Born Patricia Hay in Lawrence, MA, in 1931, Pat attended St. Patrick's elementary and high school. She continued a Catholic all-girls school education through college. She graduated from St. John's School of Nursing, maintaining friends with classmates throughout her life, then worked for Dr. McGovern, through whom she was introduced to her future husband.
Pat was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, William A. Finneran, Sr. a business and community leader and owner of Finneran's Pharmacy in N. Andover, MA and later Allen's Pharmacy in Manchester-by-the-Sea. Together, they raised five children in North Andover. Pat also shared in the responsibilities of running a family business. The business of family was always her top priority and their home on Heath Road was the meeting place for extended family on holidays, and a destination for neighborhood children where there was always another spot at the dinner table. After all five children graduated from college, she started working at Talbots. Pat enjoyed fashion but the real pleasure for her was being friend and mentor to many young career women.
Pat was a member of the North Andover Garden Club and served as President in the early 70's. She was a parishioner of St. Michael Church in N. Andover, then St. Augustine's Church in Andover and finally Sacred Heart in Manchester-by-the-Sea.
She is survived by her children and extended family: William A. Finneran Jr. and wife Jill Finneran, their children Trip and Emily; daughter Nancy Walke and husband Paul Walke, their daughter Amanda; son Daniel Finneran, daughter Joanne Hoff and husband Robert Hoff, their children Connor, Charlie and Charlotte; and daughter Patricia A.M. Finneran, and her sister Eileen Grey, niece Cathy White, nephew Robert Grey and their families.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Friday, August 4, 2017 at St. Michael Church, 196 Main Street, preceded by calling hours 8:30 - 9:30am at John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, 35 Merrimack Street, both in North Andover, MA.
