Maureen E. Kelley's Obituary
Maureen Kelley, 82, passed away on September 18th, 2024, at her home in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. She was born in Lawrence and educated at Saint Patrick’s grammar and high schools. Maureen received her Bachelor’s Degree from Mount St. Vincent University, in Halifax, Nova Scotia and her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of New Hampshire.
Maureen lived her passion for education as a teacher for readiness and first grade in the Derry, New Hampshire School System for over 35 years. Upon retiring, Maureen continued working at the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence, heading up their volunteer program. Maureen was closely affiliated with Central Catholic High School (CCHS) where she served on their Board of Directors and was instrumental in introducing coeducation at CCHS.
More than anything, Maureen was all about family. She was selfless. Maureen always took a keen interest in everything her siblings, nieces and nephews participated in. We will always remember Maureen because she lived her life by following the adage “Scatter Kindness”.
Maureen is survived by her brother, Stephen Kelley of Plaistow, NH, his wife Sonya and their two sons, Andrew and John; her sister Eileen Grenier of Lawrence and her husband Mike and their daughter Nicole Wry of Pepperell, MA and her son, Brody; her nephew Matthew Huckins of Colorado and his wife, Ali and their children, Hailey and Henry; her nephew Daniel Huckins, houseboat owner of Massachusetts and New Hampshire; and her adopted son Hector Mancebo, of Boston, and his fiancée Alaina Pinto.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Maureen on Wednesday, November 27th, 2024 (Thanksgiving eve) from 12:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the Boys and Girls Club in Lawrence on 136 Water Street Lawrence MA 01841.
