Mark C. Alliegro's Obituary
Mark C. Alliegro, 66, passed to our Lord on Monday, October 9, 2023 at at his home in Campton, NH, surrounded by his loving family. Mark lived a life of service as a loving son who never ceased to honor his parents (both birth and in-law), as a loyal brother who watched after his beloved sisters, as a devoted husband and father who provided a warm, loving and entertaining home for his family, and as an affectionate bold and exceedingly fun brother and uncle.
Mark served others by generously offering his time and talent anywhere from volunteer firefighting to caring for fellow refugees after Hurricane Katrina to comforting the sick with his companionship, along with kind and secret acts of charity to others throughout the years. He also lead a charge to instill truth and purity in science and history education for our children. Mark was a brave and courageous man that put his time and safety aside to help others in need.
God gave Mark a great spirit of adventure, and an amazing imagination which he handed down to his children; fearlessly facing challenges in comical ways. He gave Mark the gift to inspire others while he faced adversity throughout his career in science as well as the years he spent fighting for our Country. Throughout his life, Mark surrendered to nothing and no one but God. He was a fierce warrior for freedom, family, life, religious liberties, and for protection from tyranny.
Mark was a well respected Professor of Cell and Molecular Biology at University’s such as LSU, Harvard, Brown, and Duke. He also lead his research teams in world renowned laboratories like the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, MA. Along with his career in Science, Mark was the leading Republican candidate for the 9th Massachusetts Congressional seat, and held his seat for New Hampshire State Representative in Grafton County District 7. Mark treated all he encountered with true dignity and respect throughout the course of his personal and professional life.
Aside from his professional accomplishments and impact in his community, Mark was more importantly an amazing husband, father, brother, uncle, son, and friend. From hilarious prank wars, to meaningful family vacations, to important lessons he taught all who knew him, his true legacy left behind is all of the memories he made with those that loved him so dearly. Mark had an unmatched love for his wife and best friend of over 40 years and his children, and brought fun and enjoyment to their lives. He taught them to stand for what they believe in and to never settle or comply. He loved all Alliegro family pets and managed to give a voice to each of them. Mark was a wonderful father, and because of him his daughters and grandchildren will be just as strong, kind, loving, and impactful throughout their lives.
Mark endured a tortuous and cruelly devastating course of diagnosed ALS with extraordinary courage, calm, and humility because of who Mark was his whole life. When he was struck with this initially unknown affliction so many people prayed frequently to God for his deliverance. He brought family and friends closer to God as his suffering continued. Mark surrendered himself to the will of God, and assured his family that this was the way, and that he was at peace as he himself grew closer to our Lord.
Mark was predeceased by his loving parents Louis and Estelle Alliegro and his loving in-laws Deacon Allan and Alice Ramey, his beloved sisters Lynne Alliegro and Dale (Cookie) Alliegro. He is survived by his beloved wife and eternal partner, Mary Anne Alliegro, his cherished children Nicole and Kelly Alliegro, and his lovingly anticipated granddaughter (fondly referred to as ‘Markina’, soon to arrive). Mark is also survived by his beloved married siblings — Dr. Allan A. Ramey Jr. and his late wife Marita and late daughter Jessica, Donna Meade and her husband Robert, Paul Ramey and his wife Anne, and numerous loving nieces, nephews and their families.
Marks eternal optimism and resilience inspired so many others to fight for what they believed in. He will always be loved by those he inspired, those he made laugh, and those he loved fiercely.
We love you, Dad.
