Marie E. (Norton) Pekarski's Obituary
Marie E Norton Pekarski, 94 of Lawrence MA passed away on August 24, 2024 at High Pointe House in Haverhill after a period of declining health. Born in Lawrence on September 5,1929, she was the daughter of the late Harold L. and Loyola (Regan) Norton. She attended the Gilbert E. Hood School and graduated from Lawrence High School and Lowell State Teachers College with a degree in Elementary Education. After raising her children, she proudly served the children of the Lawrence Public Schools as a Kindergarten and Title I Reading teacher at the A.B. Bruce and James F. Hennessey Schools until her retirement in 1991.
Marie was an avid reader, cook, gardener, but her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her world. She was married to William “Bill” Pekarski for 68 years until his passing in 2019. She is survived by her children, William H Pekarski of Lawrence, Anne M Cook (James P.) of Salem , NH , David J (Tracy J.) of Methuen and daughter-in-law Eileen M. Pekarski of Lawrence.
Her grandchildren Alethea M. Pekarski (Peter), Gregory D. Pekarski (Katelyn), Tori D. Sandmaier (Nathan), William L. Pekarski (Jordan), Sarah R. Cook , Siobhan M. Atwood (Robert).
Her great- grandchildren Sheelagh, Jillian, Sean, Braeden, Isla, Quintin, Rosalie, and Willam.
Her niece Mary Wheeler-Gosselin (Bryan), daughter-in-law Gail Melix-Noyes and her daughter Rachel of Cape Cod as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was the mother of the late Christopher J. Pekarski, sister to the late Teresa N. Wheeler and sister-in-law to the late Mary, Bernice and Vincent Pekarski, Rosalie Donohue and Jack Wheeler.
Funeral services were private under the direction of The John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA.
