Kathleen Frances (Donohue) Remmes' Obituary
Kathleen Frances (Donahue) Remmes died on September 24, 2008 from injuries sustained in a July 8th 2008 fall. Kathleen was the wife of the late Arthur J. Remmes, Jr. to whom she was married for 44 years. She was born in Lawrence, MA and was a graduate of St Patrick High School and St John School of Nursing in Lowell, MA. Kay was a Registered Nurse and worked for Lawrence General Hospital, serving as a Supervisor of Nursing Services for many years. Her career included working for the City of Lawrence as a Child Welfare Nurse until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of the American Nursing Association and the Massachusetts Nursing Association. Kay was a parishioner at St Patrick Church and a member of Our Lady's Sodality. She also enjoyed gardening and was an officer on the Board of Directors of the Lawrence Garden Club. She was a lifetime member of the Caritas Holy Family Hospital Auxiliary, the St. Clare League of Catholic Women and a member of AARP. She was also a member of the Colonial Heights Neighborhood Association. She will be remembered as a loving mother, a kind friend and as a spirited woman with a most generous heart. Of all her activities, Kay got the most pleasure from her family. She is survived by one sister, Mary T. Donahue of Andover, MA, daughters and son-in-law: Kathleen A. Remmes of Haverhill MA and Maryellen and Robert Davis of Hudson NH, and sons and daughters-in-law: Arthur J. and Lana Remmes III of Plainfield NH, James J. and Marlene Remmes of Haverhill MA and Joseph S. and Elizabeth Remmes of Bradford MA. Kay also leaves nine grandchildren: Kristen, Kathryn, Deanna, James, Stephen, Daniel, Jessica, Robert and Matthew and two great-grandchildren: Adam and Mariana, her sister-in-law Marie Foley and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 29, 2008 at 11:00AM in St. Patrick in Lawrence, MA. A burial will follow in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, North Andover, MA.
