Scott,I am soryy to hear of the passing of Joyce.Your mom was a life long friend of my mother. They had known each other sense the first grade.Although I would only see Joyce on occation ,she would always have a big smile and something nice to say. When ever my Mom would say " I'm going out with the girls" I new Joyce and Regina and Mom would be heading out. When mom and Regina go out from now on ,I know that the spirit of Joyce will always be with them and that she will never be forgoten.May God bless Joyce with life eternal in Heaven.Amen
Mrs. McGrath was a former teacher of mine at Doherty Middle School in Andover, MA. I remember hearing how tough she was and being so worried when I ended up on her team. What ended up happening, however, is that I enjoyed Mrs. McGrath's class more than many of my others, and 6th grade ended up being a lot less scary thanks in large part to her clear and high expectations. She pushed me and every other student in her class, she got us to think outside the box and really immerse ourselves in her classroom lessons. When Mrs. McGrath had her hip replacement surgery, I was able to go and visit her. Though I was no longer her student, I wanted to make sure that she was doing alright with her recovery. I remember sitting on her steps with her in the beautiful sunshine and speaking to her for a long time before heading home. She was so grateful for my visit and I was so happy that I got to connect with her during her recovery. Her teaching, and love for it, will be missed but there are many fond memories she helped to create. Thank you, Mrs. McGrath.
So sorry to hear of Joyce's passing. She was a good friend. I was one of her high school and college class mates. She offered me a place to stay when I returned to the Lawrence area after I had moved to Minnesota, and we had many good visits - mostly connected to class reunions. My condolences to Scott and family members. May God be with you. Judy Nass
Scott, I know it has been many years since we have talked but when I just wanted to let you know I am sorry to hear about your Mom. My dad died 3 years ago so I know these are difficult times. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. I am living in North Andover now but my Mom still lives on Poor Street. Fondly, Tim and Kelly Lacourse
I am so sorry to hear of Joyce's passing. I worked with her on the 6B Team at Doherty Middle School and enjoyed every minute of our time together. I will always remember her as a wonderful teacher and a very honest person who always said what she meant and meant what she said. She will be missed.
Joyce most certainly has my thoughts and prayers, and appreciation for the time I had to know her. My deepest sympathies to the family.
