Mr. John J. Heggarty's Obituary
John “Jack” Heggarty, 68, died peacefully on Monday, May 21, 2018 at his home in the Village of North Conway, NH.
Born May 16, 1950 in Lawrence, MA, Jack was the oldest son of the late Andrew J. and Virginia M. (Gile) Heggarty. He was a 1968 graduate of Central Catholic High School and attended Chamberlayne College in Boston. Jack had been a member of the U.S. Army National Guard. A longtime resident of Lawrence, Jack moved to the Seacoast after his retirement from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He resided in North Conway for the last seven years, a place he called home. Prior to his declining health, Jack loved riding up the Seacoast on his Harley. He also loved sailing the coast of Maine, reading and spending time with the family. He will always be remembered for his love of family, his Irish heritage, his story telling and his courage of never giving up. He looked at each day as a blessing and will be remembered by all whose lives he touched.
Jack was the beloved brother of Mary and her husband Mark Linehan of Glen, NH, Francis of Salem, NH and Andy and his wife Patricia also of Salem, NH. He is also survived by his nieces Erin Messer and her husband Jay and Colleen Heggarty, nephews Daniel Linehan and Michael Heggarty and loving great uncle to Jacob, Joseph and Elouise. Jack is also survived by his aunts Dorothy Heggarty of Woburn, MA and Jane Heggarty of Methuen, MA as well as several cousins and an extended family of loving and caring friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, May 25, 2018 from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s name to the Visiting Nurses Association of North Conway, PO Box 432, North Conway, NH, 03860 or to the charity of one’s choice.
