Zena Hanson's Obituary
Mrs. Zena Hanson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 14th, 2017 from a sudden illness after a ten day struggle at Massachusetts General Hospital. With her family by her side, she bravely found the strength to tell us all how much she loved us and not to cry or be sad, but to live our lives fully and we would all see each other again someday.
A life-long resident of Lawrence, she was the daughter of Thomas and Susan Kozachuk. She was educated in the Lawrence public schools then worked in the clothing industry at Frank Bros and Lawrence Garments. Zena enjoyed spending time out in her garden taking care of her beautiful flowers and vegetables. In her later years, she was still a firecracker who loved spending Saturday nights at the VFW of Salem, New Hampshire dancing and socializing with all her friends.
Zena had a great talent for cooking, especially on the holidays. She enjoyed making her Russian dishes of pierogies and pork and cabbage. She always had her own magic touch & our holidays will sadly never be the same.
She was so looking forward to her granddaughter's wedding this July. We will all hold you in our hearts that day, and know that you are there with us in spirit. We love you so much Nana, today and always. You will be missed greatly, and never forgotten.
Zena was the widow of Ralph "Rocky" Hanson, and leaves behind sons John Hanson and wife Phyllis of Atkinson, NH; Michael Hanson and wife Elaine of Salem, NH; grandchildren Sheri Hanson Clark; Derek and Jeff Hutchings; Brittney, Brianna, and Brooke Hanson; and six great-grandchildren, a niece and nephew.
Zena was predeceased by sister Helen Koczarski; son Mark Hanson; and grandson Mark Hanson Jr.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, June 19th, 2017 from 4pm-8 pm at The John Breen Funeral Home, 122 Amesbury Street Lawrence, MA. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 20th, 2017 at 10 am at Saint Xenia Orthodox Church, 170 N. Lowell Street Methuen, MA."
