William J. Loughlin Jr.'s Obituary
William J. Loughlin Jr. “Ocean”, 86, of Lawrence, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Lawrence, on June 23, 1934 to William J. Sr. and Rita (Casey) Loughlin. Educated at St. Patrick’s Grammar School and Central Catholic High School, Class of 1952. Stationed in San Diego, California, Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1957-1959. For 25 years he worked as a lineman for the New England Power Company and spent 15 years at Mass. Electric until his retirement in 1994; never having missed a day’s work. He valued the brotherhood that fostered many lifelong friendships.
He enjoyed a long and happy 26 years of retirement at Salisbury Beach where so many wonderful memories were made with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed his Boston sports teams, so long as they were winning. He was a long-suffering Red Sox fan until they won the World Series in 2004. He was glad he lived to witness them break the curse.
He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara M. (Albrecht) Loughlin for 36 years. He is survived by his sons Daniel and wife Janice of Methuen, Kevin and his wife Maureen of Andover, his daughter Kathleen of Lawrence. Grandchildren Christine and her husband Aaron Young, Danny, Siobhan, Sarah, Deirdre and Casey Loughlin. Great-grandchildren Jackson, Oakley and Avery Young. His sister Mary Rita Henrick of Methuen and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Robert Loughlin.
A funeral Mass with be celebrated on Friday, May 28, at 11:30 AM at OLGCP St. Theresa Church, 22 Plymouth Street, Methuen, MA. Interment will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery, 177 Salem Street, North Andover 01845. Friends may call Thursday, May 27, from 4:00-8:00 PM at John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA.
