Walter Roy Vadeboncoeur's Obituary
Walter Roy Vadeboncoeur, 71, of Lawrence passed peacefully on November 5th at High Point Hospice in Haverhill where he succumbed to dementia.
He was born in Haverhill November 14, 1950, son of Harold and Beatrice (Roy) Vadeboncoeur. He grew up in Haverhill where he attended Tilton school. He was an alter boy at St. Josephs Church, played organized baseball and played the trumpet in a marching band.
Most of his career was in the construction field working for various companies including Scott Construction of Haverhill and finally retiring from Mirra Company as a crew chief installing underground utilities. He also worked several years at Shawsheen Luncheonette in Andover where he thoroughly enjoyed cooking and entertaining the customers with his jokes and quick wit.
He had a passion for cooking and would prepare all the home meals and was always the guy attending the grill. The only recipe he followed was for his awesome chili. He had a great sense of humor and loved entertaining family and friends, always making sure everyone was fed and “had a cold one”. He enjoyed outings with his family to the mountains and the beaches. He did a little traveling but was more content staying in the New England states. He was a devoted customer of the Miller Brewing Company and a big fan of the Red Sox and Patriots, faithfully watching games from his recliner at home where the beer was cold and cheap. He loved being outdoors doing gardening and yard work and listening to 70’s bands. His dress code was simple. He thought he was styling when he wore a “Canadian tuxedo” comprised of all denim shirt, jacket, jeans and hat.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Eileen “Casey” Vadeboncoeur, his son Robert Vadeboncoeur and wife Cecelia of California, Teresa Metcalf and husband Victor of Texas, Son Michael Vadeboncoeur and his wife Jessica of Kingston, NH and daughter Julie Vadeboncoeur of Milford, NH. He will be sadly missed by his brother Harold Vadeboncoeur of Salisbury and his sisters Arlene Peters of Florida, Beatrice “Honey” Curtis of Haverhill, Anita Ferguson of Methuen and Joyce Boudreau of No. Conway. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Grace, Lauren, Sarah, Matthew, Lilliana, Vivian, Nadia and was pre-deceased by Lucas. He had one great- grandchild, Cayden, two faithful cats, Marley and Winnie, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, November 14, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home at 35 Merrimack St., No. Andover, MA.
