Virginia M. (Gile) Heggarty

Virginia M. (Gile) Heggarty, 85, died peacefully April 13th. surrounded by her loving family at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Glen NH. Born April 2, 1923 in St. Augustine Florida, she was the daughter of the late Agnes and Nelson Gile. She attended No. Andover Schools and Lowell Teachers College. She was a long-time resident of Lawrence and lived for the past 19 years in Salem NH. Her teaching career spanned 35 years many of which were spent teaching for the Title 1 Program in the Lawrence School System and St. Patrick?s Grammar School. She was the cherished mother of her children Mary and her husband Mark Linehan of Glen NH, son Andrew and his wife Patricia of Salem NH, sons John of Hampton and Francis of Salem with whom she lived. She was a loving grandmother to Erin Silver and her husband Joel Silver of Glen, NH Daniel Linehan of Manhattan, Colleen and Michael Heggarty of Salem NH and a special presence to her great grandsons Jacob and Joseph Silver. She is also survived by her sister -in? laws Dorothy Heggarty of Woburn. Jane Heggarty of Lawrence and Audrey Taylor of No. Andover, a niece and five nephews, several cousins, dear friend Orlean Linehan and an extended family of loving friends. She was predeceased by her husband Andrew J.Heggarty and sister Carolyn Gile. Her devout faith and loving care from her family sustained her during an eight year battle with Alzheimers. Prior to her illness Virginia was an avid gardener, enjoyed traveling with her family and rides along the seacoast but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her loving smile and kind words will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all whose lives she touched. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 16th, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Patrick?s Church in Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in North Andover, Massachusetts.
