To the family of Viola Hassey, I just heard of the sad news of Viola's passing.I worked for several years with Viola at the Arlington School. I was the regular ed teacher and she taught the Special Needs students along with the other Sped teachers Michele Champion and later Cara Rossi. All the students just loved Viola: they circled her desk and snuggled up to her for lessons and hugs. They brought her little gifts and told her secrets and she was always smiling around them. I used to give her a ride home after school was over for the day. She would help me prepare for the next day and put stickers on the corrected papers, something pretty for "her kids." Then on the way home to Market Street, we would stop at Tripoli's Bakery and get a treat. She told me about the pastries that she had had at her wedding and she recommended that I also try the elephant ears pastry - one of her favorites. We shared many good times together and she got me through some crazy moments in the classroom too! I will miss Viola - she was truly a special lady who the children loved and I,as a teacher, also loved having beside me every day. So very sorry to think that she is gone. I hope my words bring some comfort to you. She really was so wonderful to have known. With love, Marcia Glazebrook
