Let me tell you about my Dad, Tom Jacobs. I spent a lot of time with him this year and got to know him in a deeper and personal way. My Dad is cute and funny, as he could light up a room with his charming wit and humor. Dad was incredibly generous and always wanted to help people, especially his children. Even though he is not a rich man, he gave away his money to any charity that asked him. Once he gave his car to a neighbor who did not have one. He did not try to sell it, as he could not drive any more. He just saw a need and gave it away. My Dad more than once gave away his coat to homeless individuals in freezing cold weather because he loved to share. As a child my Dad he lost both his parents when he was very young. He struggled through life, worked very hard and by the grace of God he learned how to be a good person. In his last days he would say that his name Tom was an acronym for ?Tired Old Man?. He was a very polite and gentle man, always maintaining an attitude of gratitude toward those who helped him. He was reactive and made mistakes in his life. However, like Moses he became very wise in his later years. He could scholarly discuss many things going on in this complicated world as he had developed a deeper understanding of God. Moreover, my Dad developed a strong faith in Jesus and his eternal salvation. He would say, ?I don?t read my Bible, but I know Jesus.? He kept a picture of Jesus in different rooms in his house and in his wallet for most of his adult life. On the day of our last time together, two Mormon elders came and my Dad witnessed to them about Jesus. I?m very proud of my Dad and I know I will see him in Heaven. Love ? Michelle Oberlin (Daughter)
