Theresa M. (Hatem) Solomon's Obituary
Theresa M. (Hatem) Solomon, age 89, of Methuen, MA, died May 17, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born to Philip and Rosa (Souma) Hatem was born, lived, and was educated in Lawrence MA, prior to moving to Methuen, MA, where she spent the rest of her life.
Theresa was educated at St. Mary’s High School in Lawrence, where up until her passing, was an active member of the class of 1948 reunions. She then continued her education at Berdette Business School in Boston, MA.
Her passion was playing the piano and singing in her earlier years. This talent carried on to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as she spent hours rocking and signing “Harrigan” to them.
Theresa was a dedicated parishioner of St. Anthony’s Maronite Church in Lawrence, MA, where she was a member of both the Sodality and The Daughters. She and her husband also spent many years as Eucharistic Ministers at Holy Family Chapel in Methuen, where they took pride in spreading the Word of the Lord.
Theresa worked in the family business at Supreme Cleaners in Lawrence and later in life, along with her husband Ed, started their own family business, Eddie’s Meat and Quality Market and then Eddie’s Delicatessen also in Lawrence. Her steadfast work ethic and love of family lead to her children working in both family businesses.
As Theresa moved into her second phase of work, at Phillips Academy in Andover, MA, she took pride in using her talents in the Office of Alumni Affairs.
Theresa’s legacy was faith, family, love and caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who were her greatest pride and joy.
The family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers, Sue, Tracy and Janet, that treated her with love and care for many years.
Theresa is survived by her brother Dr. Charles Hatem and his wife Barbara, her sister MaryAnn and her husband Maurice Hatem, her daughter Janice and her husband Michael Solomon, her daughter MaryEllen and her husband Samuel Kalil, her son Joseph Solomon and his wife Michelle, her daughter Emily and her husband Timothy Getchell, and her daughter Phyllis and her husband Jeffrey Getchell, 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Theresa was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Ed, who she was married to for 63 years, her Sister-in-law Mary and her husband Fred Faris and her Aunt Mary Saba.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Tuesday May 18, 2021 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at St. Anthony Maronite Church 145 Amesbury St, Lawrence, MA 01841. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday May 19, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Anthony’s Maronite Parish of Lawrence. Interment to follow at St Anthony’s Maronite Cemetery in Methuen, MA.
