Teresa C. (Chmura) Pilat's Obituary
Methuen- Teresa C. (Chmura) Pilat, 91 of Methuen died Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Lawrence General Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Alfons Pilat who died on March 5, 1993. Teresa was born in Lawrence on June 2, 1919 the daughter of Franciszek Chmura and Stefania Stegowski. She was a graduate of Lawrence High School class of 1937. Teresa worked at various textile mills in the Greater Lawrence area and retired from the former Western Electric in North Andover after 32 years of service. While at Western Electric she was on the executive board of the Telephone Pioneers of America and represented the Merrimack Valley Works at numerous state and national conferences She is survived by her daughter Patricia A. and her husband Maurice T. Ferris of Sandwich; her sons Raymond S. Pilat and his wife Ann Marie of Methuen and Roger F. Pilat of Haverhill; seven grand children Maureen Joaquin and her husband David of Belmont, Andrew Ferris and his partner Robbie Meitler of Boston, Lynn Ann Chase and her husband William P. of Methuen, Melissa Wall and her husband Robert of Methuen, Lori Ann Desmarais and her husband Jay of Salem, NH, Brian Pilat of New Jersey and Roger Pilat and his wife Lisa of Dedham; fourteen great-grand children Benjamin and Will Joaquin of Belmont, Zachary and Harrison Chase of Methuen, Emily, Samuel and Rebecca Wall of Methuen, Chelsey and Amanda Desmarais, Nicholas and Matthew Ferrara of Salem, NH, and Alexandria, Lilly, and Maddoc Pilat of Dedham. She has one sister Irene Zagorski of Methuen, and a special friend Katie Smith; several nieces and nephews as well as several grand nieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers Theodore and John Chmura. Arrangments: Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2011, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA, 01841. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday, at 10:30AM at St. Lucy Church in Methuen, with burial to follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
