Sophia M. (Uzko) Stempo, 91, a resident of Lawrence, MA., passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 20, 2009 at her home. Born in Lowell, MA., Mrs. Stempo was a graduate of both St. Mary's Grammar School and Lawrence High School. She then went on to graduate from Lowell Commercial College. Mrs. Stempo was retired from Modicon where she had worked for approximately 5 years. Prior to that she had worked at Raytheon. The widow of John A. Stempo, family members include: 2 sisters: Maryann Higgins and Helen A. Manikas of Methuen, MA. 2 nephews: Edward J. "Buzz" Higgins and Shane A. Higgins also both of Methuen, MA. a niece: Lynne Ann Moss and her husband David Moss of Methuen, MA. as well as a grandniece: Holly Moss and a grandnephew: Alex Moss. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA.
