Bruce Handler
During the early and late 1980s I was working for a New Cannan packaging firm and had met Sal through his rep. He started working on a few projects with me and did some great work. When I moved to Nestle, Sal and I continued working together. Always did great work, soft spoken and very professional. When he moved his studio to Little Italy in Manhattan, we photographed some fashion accessories. I remember it was just before July 4th and I asked Sal where I can buy fireworks.
Sal said that I should walk up the block near John Gotti’s hangout and someone would be there to help me. He was right and they guy sold me two bricks of fireworks. Sal was with me and when I asked the mob guy for a paper bag to hi de the fireworks from the police, both Sal and the guy doubled over laughing at me. Sal was always networking and did what he had to do to survive the competitive field of photography. RIP.
