Ruth J. Brunquell's Obituary
Ruth J. (Varrelmann) Brunquell, age 85, of Andover, MA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by many beloved family members, at Lawrence General Hospital on February 2, 2023.
Ruth, born and raised in New York, was the daughter of Herman and Selma (Thurm) Varrelmann. She attended school in New York and was a graduate of Fashion Institute of Technology.
Ruth was married to Clyde H. Brunquell. After years working as a children's fashion designer in New York City, she became a homemaker as she and her husband welcomed their three children into their family.
Ruth was a very talented artist, and she especially enjoyed watercolor painting and pastel work. She was an avid gardener and needleworker. She was close to Our Lord in prayer, and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Andover, MA.
Ruth was pre-deceased by her husband, Clyde. She later married Leslie Bartow, of Andover, MA. Ruth is also pre-deceased by her second husband.
Ruth is survived by her son, Scott Brunquell of Andover, MA; her daughter Carol and her husband Michael Sutcliffe of Auburn, NH; her daughter Kathryn Brunquell of Tewksbury, MA; and her daughter-in-love, Renee (Theroux) Brunquell of Haverhill, MA.
She is also survived by her three granddaughters, Caitlin(Brunquell) and her husband Ian Schultz of Haverhill, MA; Nicole Brunquell and her partner Richard Osborne of Haverhill, MA; and Erin Brunquell and her partner Adam Cassell of Hampstead, NH.
Ruth is additionally survived by her two great granddaughters, Amelia Schultz and Cecilia Schultz of Haverhill, MA; her sister-in-law Beverly (Brunquell) Beust of Newton Upper Falls, MA; her niece Lynne Beust of PA; her niece Susan Bartels and her husband of Harwich, MA; her niece Cheryl (Beust) and her husband Al Czernicki of North Chelmsford, MA; as well as several great nieces and a great nephew.
She will be very greatly missed by her family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023 at 11 am at Faith Lutheran Church, 360 South Main Street, Andover, MA.
