Rocco A. DiFruscio's Obituary
Rocco DiFruscio, 84, passed away on July 5, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories built on hard work, steadfast loyalty, and a deep appreciation for family and friends.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on July 25, 1941, Rocco embodied the spirit of a true New England working man. He believed in earning everything he had, standing by his convictions, and showing up for the people who mattered. He could be stubborn when he thought he was right-and more often than not, he probably believed he was-but those who knew him best also knew a man with a generous heart, a sharp sense of humor, and an unwavering loyalty to those he loved.
Rocco spent much of his career in construction, contributing to projects at Wang Laboratories in Lowell before concluding his working years with the North Andover Public Schools. He took pride in a job well done and in the honest work that defined his life.
While he was happiest in the company of family and lifelong friends, Rocco also enjoyed seeing the country alongside his beloved wife, Cheryl. Together they traveled to Florida, the Grand Canyon, and the Bahamas, but no destination brought a bigger smile to Rocco's face than Las Vegas, where he was always optimistic that the next-hand or the next spin-might be the lucky one.
Some of Rocco's greatest joys were the simple ones. A good game of Forty-Fives, morning coffee and conversation with friends, and the comfort of familiar faces meant more to him than anything money could buy. He was active in several local civic organizations over the years, including the British Club and the former Rocky Club, where he built friendships that lasted a lifetime. At home, he never passed up one of Cheryl's home-cooked meals, especially her legendary chicken parmesan, which he proudly considered second to none.
Above all else, Rocco treasured the people in his life. He was predeceased by his parents, Rocco and Elvira DiFruscio; his sister, Rose (DiFruscio) Rapazzo; and his son, John DiFruscio.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Cheryl (Greska) DiFruscio; his brother, Tony DiFruscio and his wife, Beverly, of North Carolina; his sister, Rita DiFruscio of Methuen; his sisters-in-law, Jackie Cassidy of Sandown, New Hampshire, and Carol Sorkhabi of California; his granddaughters, Vanessa and Jenny DiFruscio; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Rocco's life was not measured by grand gestures, but by the countless everyday moments he shared with those he loved. He worked hard, loved deeply, remained true to himself, and never forgot the value of good friends, good food, and time spent together. He will be missed beyond words and remembered with countless stories, laughter, and affection.
