Robert J Scharn's Obituary
Robert J. Scharn of Haverhill died unexpectedly on Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Merrimack Valley of the Holy Family Hospital in Haverhill at the age of 73. He was the beloved husband of Billie Alice (Todd) Scharn for 53 years, also Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Robert (Bob) was born in Lawrence, MA on March 17, 1944, the son of the late Frederick and Dagmar (Wilson) Scharn. He was educated in the Billerica school system. Over the years, Bob worked at Stride Rite Shoe, Andrew Wilson/PPI, Hampshire Fabrics and Property Management of Andover until his retirement. Bob enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends, family gatherings and cookouts, joke telling, bingo, German bowling, horseshoes, darts, visiting Foxwoods casinos and vacations with his wife and family. He and his wife entertained many with their jitterbug dance to In The Mood. He was a member of the former Berkeley Club and Concordia Club of Lawrence, MA. Bob was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. Bob will be remembered for his loving manner, kind heart, sense of humour and his devotion to his family, of whom he was always willing to tell you how proud he was. He is survived by his loving wife, Billie Alice (Todd) Scharn of Haverhill, his son, Robert J. Scharn, Jr. and his wife Coleen (Bodenrader) of Haverhill, his daughters Stacey (Scharn) Lavigne and her husband James of Jackson, MI and Tammy (Scharn) Serverius and her husband Timothy of Haverhill as well as his grandchildren Scott (and his wife Alie), Todd and Amber Lavigne, Matthew Scharn, Erin and Emma Serverius and his great granddaughter, Lillian Lavigne. He is also the brother of Mary Hentz of Billerica, twin brother Harold Scharn and his wife Pixie of Lawrence, Frank Pohle and his wife Hannah of Vancouver, WA and the late Rose Womble of Lowell, Frederick and Raymond Scharn of Lawrence. He is also survived by many, many godchildren, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 11:00AM at the Breen Funeral Home.
