Robert P. Kilcoyne's Obituary
Robert P. (Bob) Kilcoyne, 83, a longtime resident of North Andover, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Ashland Farm at North Andover surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Lawrence, MA, to the late William J. and Mary C. (Kinsella) Kilcoyne, Robert was a graduate of St. Patrick Grammar School and Central Catholic High School. After graduating in 1953, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard at the age of 17 and proudly served until 1957. As a repairman/tester, Bob worked for New England Telephone and AT&T for 32 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of many organizations, including The Holy Name Society, Lawrence Lodge of Elks, B.P.O.E #65, The Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 8, and the North Andover Knights of Columbus Msgr. Shea Council 3819. Robert was a very devout and active parishioner of St. Michael Church in North Andover. Always willing to lend a hand, Bob enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels, Circle of Friends and 1000 Club. He was an avid Boston Sports fan and had a great love of music and travel. Most of all, he loved his family, hosting numerous cookouts by the pool and festive Christmas parties.
Robert was the widower of Catherine V. (Bunny) Kilcoyne who passed away in 2014. He will be deeply missed by his children, Patricia J. Young, Colleen R. LaChance and her husband, Richard, Robert P. Kilcoyne Jr. and his wife, Heidi, and Judith A. Brezner and her husband, Howard; his grandchildren, Christian Hanley and his wife, Arnelle, Gabrielle Young, Chase Young, Julia and Catherine LaChance, Emily, Allyson and Lucy Kilcoyne, Jake and Luke Brezner; his great grandchildren: Dasia and Jaxson Mitchell, and Ronan Hanley; his sister, Maryalice Kilcoyne; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Kilcoyne; and many nieces and nephews
Robert was predeceased by his brothers William, Richard, and Joseph Kilcoyne
The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at Ashland Farm and All Care VNA Hospice for the outstanding care and kindness extended to Bob.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at 10:00 am in St. Michael Church, 196 Main Street, North Andover, MA. Burial will follow in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, also in North Andover. Family and friends may call on Monday, June 3, 2019, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 35 Merrimack Street, North Andover, MA. The Lawrence A.O.H.
