Richard J. Wilkie's Obituary
Richard J. Wilkie of Methuen, MA passed away on April 9, 2023. He was born in Lawrence, MA to the late Michael and Stella Wilkie.
After graduating from Lawrence High School, Richard went on to study culinary arts at the Fannie Farmer Cooking School of Boston. His passion for creating sumptuous meals never wained, and he greatly enjoyed passing along his cooking techniques. He was fortunate to spend his entire career doing what he loved and retired from Lawrence General Hospital’s kitchen.
Richard was also an avid gardener and loved tending to his beautiful gardens and manicured lawn. Each summer would see him take a respite from his yard duties to vacation in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire with his entire family. There you could find him basking in the sun, taking in sites and living life at a leisurely pace.
Richard is survived by his wife, Nancy G. Wilkie of Methuen, daughters Mary Apitz and her husband James of Methuen, Karen Berrios of Andover, and his beloved grandchildren Julia, Michael, and John Apitz, and Brandon Berrios. He is also survived by sister Joan Stewart, niece Susan Downer and nephew Steven Stewart all of Methuen. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph Wilkie.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 11:30AM at St. Michael Church, 196 Main St. North Andover, MA. 01845. His burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen, MA.
