Richard A. Dragon's Obituary
Richard A. Dragon, 90, a lifelong resident of Lawrence, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, at Lawrence General Hospital.
Born in Lawrence, MA on August 19, 1934, he was the son of the late Romeo J. and Anna M. (Flanagan) Dragon. Richard was educated in Lawrence public schools and was a proud graduate of Lawrence High School. He honorably served in the United States Air Force and later dedicated 40 years of service as a postal carrier with the United States Postal Service in Lawrence until his retirement.
Richard was an avid weightlifter throughout his life. At the age of 18, as well as having the opportunity of competing in the Olympics—this was something he was very proud of. Although he ultimately chose to enlist in the Air Force and begin a family, he never gave up his passion for weightlifting and continued to train well into his later years.
He is survived by his loving children: Sherrie Perrault of Manchester, NH; Nancy and her husband Lenny Abreu of Salem, NH; Richard A. Dragon of Lawrence; Lynn and her husband Frank Couture of Methuen; Warren Dragon of Lawrence; Wayne and his wife Pennie Dragon of Lawrence; Ryan and his wife Jennifer Dragon of Salem, NH; and Valerie Dragon of Derry, NH. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Elizabeth “Betty” Dragon, many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Richard was predeceased by his brother Alton Dragon, and his sister Irene Therrien and her husband Roland.
