Phillip James Glendye, 68, of Lawrence, MA passed away peacefully at home with his family after a valiant one year battle with melanoma. Born and raised in Lawrence, Phil was a 1969 graduate of Lawrence High School. He attended T Read Obituary
Every year The Valley Patriot newspaper honors Phil with a special needs scholarship in his name at our annual charity BASH. There was nobody in the Merrimack Valley who cared more for special needs students and we are happy to keep his name going with this public honor in his name.
My thoughts and prayers go to the all of the Glendye/Franks family for your loss. I have wonderful memories of "Uncle Phil". He taught Donald how to fish from the beach on one of our summer vacations at Salisbury beach. Phil had such a big heart and was so devoted to Special Olympics and his family, it so warmed my heart. Love and hugs to all of you.

I got to know Phil fairly well through Special Olympics. I witnessed firsthand his love and dedication to his athletes, fellow coaches, and family members. His generosity of spirit was boundless. His legacy is secure. Phil made the world a better place, pure and simple. Rest easy, my friend.
Hey Phil, i was the younger of my three brothers That hang together. I felt like the outcast lol, which was cool haha. My brothers Jim & Walter go back a long time with you. Nothing beats the sledding down the hill behind your house. I’m sure Jim and Walter have much more fun times I’m not privy to,lol. We had some fun times ,R.I.P. Phil.

The Lawrence Teachers' Union mourns the passing of our brother Phil Glendye.
Phil was a beloved teacher and Special Olympics coach at Lawrence High. School. He touched the lives of so many families, students, and colleagues. He was a solid educator, unionist, and LANCER.
He made a difference. He will be missed.
Mr. Glendye was a champion and a passionate voice for the children of LHS. His love and dedication to the Special Olympics was second to none and surely missed. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and may he rest in peace.
