Patricia June Wermers (June)'s Obituary
Patricia June Wermers (June), 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on November 12, 2023. She was born June Maynard in Lawrence, MA in 1931 and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1948. She went to the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School and on to employment at the Phillips Andover Academy from 1949 to 1954. She met her husband of 70 years, George Wermers, in high school and they married at St. Patrick’s Church in 1953. June and George first lived in Minneapolis, MN, and settled back in Andover, MA in 1964 where they raised their four children. June returned to work at Phillips Andover in 1973, remaining there in the Athletic Department until her retirement 26 years later. In retirement, June and George especially loved family gatherings at their home. And they enjoyed their travels – to the Stratford (Shakespeare) Festival in Canada, various European countries, Tanglewood Symphonies and winters in Naples, Florida.
June is survived by her husband George, beloved sister Janice Gosselin, daughters Ann Lyons, Lynn Wermers, and Mary Schissel, son John Wermers, grandchildren Patricia and Casey Trafton, Mary Lyons, Kate Lyons, Charlie Schissel, and Caroline Schissel. June is also survived by daughter-in-law Celeste Wermers, sons-in-law George Lyons and Charles Schissel, and many Gosselin nieces and nephews. At June’s request there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Michael’s Parish in North Andover on Friday, November 17, 2023, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Phillips Andover, Parkinson’s Foundation, or a charity of one’s choice.
