Patricia M. (Roy) Brightney's Obituary
BOXFORD, MA — Patricia M. (Roy) Brightney, 95, of Boxford, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at her home. She was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on January 6, 1931, the daughter of the late Emile J. Roy, Sr. and Mary D. (Kapinos) Roy. Patricia graduated from St. Mary’s High School with the Class of 1948. That same year, she married the love of her life, James J. Brightney. Together they shared 73 wonderful years of marriage until James’s passing in July of 2022. She was employed as a sales associate at Sutherland’s for 10 years before spending 30 years at Simons Sewing Center. A gifted seamstress and talented cake decorator, Patricia’s greatest joy was creating a warm and beautiful home for her family. She also had a lifelong passion for genealogy and took great pride in researching and preserving her family’s history. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James J. Brightney; her parents, Emile J. Roy, Sr. and Mary D. (Kapinos) Roy; and her brother, Emile J. Roy, Jr. Patricia is lovingly survived by her children, Justine M. Brightney; Sharon E. Croteau and her husband, J. Robert Croteau; J. Kevin Brightney and his wife, Nancy B. Brightney; Brian J. Brightney; Laura J. Brightney; and Craig A. Brightney. She also leaves her cherished grand- children, Michael Croteau and his wife, Stacey; Alicia Pusateri and her husband, Cmdr. Chad Pusateri, D.O.; Matthew Melanson and his wife, Jennifer; Kathryn Col- lins and her husband, Kevin; and James Brightney and his wife, Rita Exposito. Patricia was the proud great-grand- mother of Adelyn Croteau, Vi- olet Croteau, Ella Pusateri, Ivy Pusateri, Isabella Melanson, Austin Melanson and Thomas Collins. She is also survived by several beloved nieces, nephews, Her Beloved Niece Eileen Asoian and extended family members, and friends who will miss her dearly.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to call on Tuesday, July 7th, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Breen Memorial Funeral Home, 35 Merrimack Street, No. Andover, MA. Her funeral mass will be celebrated immediately following the wake at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary Parish, 94 Andover Street, Georgetown, MA.
