Monica Allen's Obituary
Monica Allen 94 passed away peacefully March 19, 2020 at Salem Haven Nursing Home in Salem NH and formally of Lawrence MA.
Born in Andover, MA. Daughter of Edward and Margaret (Murphy) Fritschy
She retired from Western Electric, and volunteered as a Telephone Pioneers. She was member of St. Patrick Church and Ladies Sodality for over 30 years which included the Saturday Sandwich Program. Sewing and Knitting were some of her favorite past times. She knitted stuffed animals, monogrammed Christmas stockings for girls, hats and mittens or anything she found a pattern for but sewing was where her talents shined. She created a christening gown over 45 years ago that all our girls have worn. Her sewing machine was always open and ready for whatever project was next. She was member of the Latitudes Sports Club for many years and loved to work –out well into her 70’s. Many times she would tell the other members that they were not doing the exercises correctly. She spent many Sunday afternoons sharing dinner with her family. Summertimes were the best when she could walk laps around their pools and watching the grandkids and then later the great grandkids in the water.
Monica is survived by her two daughters, Pamela wife of Robert Belanger of Methuen MA and Debra and husband Edward Gabriel of Salem NH. She was fortunate to see her four granddaughters grow into adults. Elizabeth wife of Joshua Frias of Salem NH, Stacy Gabriel and Jesse Hunnefeld of Newburyport MA, Rachael wife of Harold Banks Jr of Methuen MA, Robin wife of Barry Petrucci of Wakefield MA and six great grandchildren, Paige, Alyson, Harry, Danny, Norah and Vivian. Michael Fritschy is her only surviving member of a family of 8 brothers and 8 sisters and many nieces and nephews. She was also survived by her former husband’s children, Ann and her husband D. James Schrect, Louise Gentile and Robert Gentile.
She was preceded by Daniel Allen who dies in 1975 and James Gentile who died in 2009.
Memorial contributions can be made in Monica’s name to her favorite charity. St, Jude Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
