Miriam "Mimi" F. (Powers) Dolan's Obituary
Miriam "Mimi" F. (Powers) Dolan, 91, a resident of Derry, NH, passed away on Good Friday with dignity and grace at her own home surrounded by her family. Born in Lawrence, MA, Miriam attended both St. Augustine's and St. Patrick's Grammar Schools as well as St. Mary's High School. She went on to attend Wilfred's Academy of Hairdressing. After graduating, Miriam had worked at Selma's Beauty Shop in Lawrence. She then went on to work at National Transistor in Methuen. A resident of Derry for 55 years, Miriam was an extremely devout Catholic and attended St. Thomas Aquinas Church while living there. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and enjoyed watching the Catholic Television Channel. Miriam was an avid gardener and a great lover of animals especially dogs and birds. She was a beloved aunt to her many nieces and nephews. The widow of John E. Dolan, members of Miriam's family include: sisters: Claire Scanlon and her husband Thomas Scanlon of Philadelphia, PA, Justine Murphy and her husband Edmund Murphy of Tewksbury, MA, Helen Morris of Port Charlotte, FL, and Dolores Hewett of Atkinson, NH. She is also survived by a brother: Frederick Powers and his wife Anne Powers of Atkinson, NH as well as many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish-St. Augustine's Church, 128 Ames St., Lawrence. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, also in Lawrence. Family and friends may call on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA.
