Mildred A. (Keleher) Doherty's Obituary
Mildred (Keleher) Doherty age 90 , died Sunday September 8, 2019 at Massachusetts General Hospital surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with declining health.
The daughter of the late William and Agnes Keleher.
She was a life long resident of Lawrence’s Prospect Hill Neighborhood.
Mildred attended the former St. Laurence O’Toole Church (where she met and married her husband) and the John Rollins School. She graduated from Lawrence High School and the Stenotype Institute in Boston and began a career with the American Mutual Insurance Company Boston in the claims department.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband James E. Doherty, Jr. who died in 2016 after 52 years of marriage. She was a proud Marine wife. She was caregiver to her husband in his final years.
She retired from the City of Lawrence.
In retirement Mildred attended Northern Essex Community College and earned two degrees in Paralegal and Criminal Justice. A BS in Sociology from Merrimack College and attended Northeastern University School of Law.
She enjoyed researching her families genealogy and spending time at Hampton Beach. Spending time with her family and pet dogs was her greatest joy.
She is survived by her son James E. Doherty.
At the request of the family services are private. Burial in the family plot at Immaculate Conception Cemetery Lawrence.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Massachusetts General Hospital Intensive Care Unit for the care and compassion given to her in her final days.
