Michael T. Herward's Obituary
Michael T. Herward, 77, a resident of Haverhill, MA, passed away peacefully on Monday July 19, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Mike was born in Lawrence, MA, on September 21, 1943, the son of the late Matthew and Cecilia (Levis) Herward. He was raised in Lawrence and graduated from Central Catholic High School before attending Merrimack College. Mike served in the U.S. Army on active duty during the Vietnam War.
Mike was an avid reader and life long history buff. He enjoyed the newspaper daily; keeping up with current affairs and politics. He also appreciated non-fiction books, especially those focused on nautical and military themes. Mike was a skilled conversationalist who could talk to anyone about anything. He had a quick, dry wit about him that brought laughter and cheer to all around him. Mike cherished fond memories of the many summers he spent at Salisbury Beach. He loved the ocean, watching the ships from shore and listening to the various comings and goings via police scanners
Mike will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 51 years Jean (Bennett) Herward; his daughter Kelly and her husband Brett Hochmuth; his 2 adored grandchildren Grady and Cecilia Hochmuth; his beloved sister Ann Marie Burnham, all of Haverhill MA; his sister-in-law Kathleen and her husband Richard Cibos of Seabrook NH, as well as several nephews and nieces.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday, July 26th, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 35 Merrimack Street, No. Andover, MA.
