Maurice Y. Hatem's Obituary
Lawrence – Maurice Y. Hatem, 86, of Methuen, MA., passed away on December 12, 2021, at Lawrence General Hospital, following a brief illness, with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Hammana, Lebanon on April 21, 1935, to Matilda (Hatem) Hatem and Yousef Hatem.
Maurice was educated in Tripoli Lebanon at St. Joseph’s University with an Associate Degree in Business which led him to a life of business ownership until his passing. He came to America in 1964 and owned and operated Supreme Cleaners on Broadway in Lawrence, MA. Maurice also owned Alyce’s Sandwich shop next door to the cleaners for many years. In 1974, alongside his wife, MaryAnn, he opened Supreme Tee’s, in Salisbury Beach, MA, and they continued the business for 40 years.
Maurice leaves behind his loving wife, MaryAnn T. (Hatem) Hatem of 54 years. His daughter, Alyce T. (Hatem) Sader, wife of Pierre L. Sader and the pride and joy of his life, his grandchildren, Michael, Nadine and Kristine Sader. His sister, Alice Y. Hatem of Lebanon, sister-in-law, Nouhad L. Hatem of Lebanon, nephews, Joseph L. Hatem, Waleed L. Hatem and Emile L. Hatem and their families. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. Charles and Barbara Hatem.
He also leaves many nieces and nephews in the USA and Lebanon. He was pre-deceased by his sister Noha Hatem and brother Louis Hatem, as well as his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edmond and Theresa (Hatem) Solomon.
Maurice was very dedicated to supporting many new Lebanese immigrants that settled in the USA. His passion in life was to help people through various known adversities. He was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Friends and Family are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, December 16, 2021, from 4 to 8 P.M., at the John Breen Funeral Home, 122 Amesbury St in Lawrence, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony Maronite Church, 145 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA. on Friday, December 16, 2021, at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Rt. 113, Methuen, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made in Maurice’s name to St. Anthony Maronite Church, 145 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA.
