MaryAnn T. Hatem's Obituary
MaryAnn T. Hatem, 80, of Methuen, MA passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, at the Lawrence General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on March 11, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Rose (Souma) Hatem.
MaryAnn was educated at St. Mary Grammar School and St. Mary High School in Lawrence. Her desire to help people lead her to Northeastern University’s X-Ray technician program. She worked at the Bon Secours Hospital, now Holy Family Hospital, for many years forming lifetime friendships. After marrying her husband Maurice, they began a lifelong partnership in marriage and business. They both worked tirelessly in the family businesses, Supreme Cleaners, in Lawrence, Alyce's Sandwich Shop, located next door and later, Supreme Tee’s at Salisbury Beach, where MaryAnn was known for her vibrant personality and dedication to her customers. Customers would travel each summer to Supreme Tee’s just to get their souvenir shirt from MaryAnn.
She was the beloved wife of the late Maurice Y. Hatem. MaryAnn is survived by her daughter, Alyce T. Sader, son-in-law, Pierre L. Sader; and by her loving grandchildren, Michael, Nadine, and Kristine Sader, who brought her endless pride and joy. Her love for her grandchildren was the center of her life and she poured her heart into every moment spent with them. They were her greatest treasures.
She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Charles Hatem, and his wife Barbara. Along with her sister-in-law Nouhad L. Hatem. She was predeceased by her sister, Theresa Solomon, and brother-in-law, Edmond Solomon as well as her brother-in-law Louis Hatem and sisters-in-law Noha Hatem and Alice Hatem. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews in USA and Lebanon.
As a proud lifelong member of St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, MaryAnn’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a devoted parishioner who found joy, peace, and strength in attending Mass and staying connected to her church community. MaryAnn will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her deep devotion to her family, and her kind and generous spirit. Her presence was a blessing to all who knew her, through her family, the love and strength she embodied will never be forgotten.
Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 4-7 PM at John Breen Funeral Home, 122 Amesbury Street in Lawrence, MA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at St. Anthony Maronite Church, 145 Amesbury Street Lawrence, MA at 11 AM. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Rt 113, Methuen, MA.
