SOUTH BERWICK, ME.-Martin G. Melia, 57, of South Berwick, Maine passed away peacefully at his home on June 16, 2009 following a brief illness. He was the beloved son of Jane E. (Gallagher) Melia and the late Martin F. Melia. Marty Read Obituary
Marty was like a brother to me. With his help I joined the Marine Corps in 1979. In 1983 I was in Beirut, Lebanon during the bombing of the Marine HQ. My family didn't know if I was dead or alive, It was Marty who called the Pentagon for my family to find out that I was Fine. Marty was a special human being.
Marty you will be greatly missed!! The man with the biggest heart has left us :( I am so glad I had the chance to know you. You will live in our memories forever, buddy.

Marty, You were way too young to leave this earth and you will be missed so much by all who knew you. You're smiling face, your quick and constant wit, your ability to make people happy - all that made you the individual you were, will be dearly remembered. I will cherish the memories from our childhood times in Hampton Beach, visits on holidays, etc. We will see each other again someday, but until then you will be sorely missed. Love, Cousin Christine
We were unable to visit with the Melia family this weekend at either the wake or Mass for "Marty", but we do wish to pass along our sincere condolences to all the members of the family, especially to Mrs. Jane Melia. To Marty's family: I was so sorry to learn of Marty's passing. My daughter, Danielle, was his asst. mgr. at Cumberland Farms so I saw him quite often when I stopped in to visit. Of course he was also kidding one or both of us, as was his way. Marty was a very likeable man and I know he will be greatly missed. My sincere condolences, Nancy E.Berube

I have many fond memories of Marty from the early 80's. My boyfriend at the time was good friends with Marty & we spent alot of time with him. I especially remember a St Patrick's Day party- probably at the Sycamore Club. It was a party I have never forgotten! The Irish music was the best. My sympathy to his family. Marty I'm sure you've given lot's of people lot's of memories!
To Jane Melia and Family My deepest sympathies to the Melia family. I babysat Marty after school when he was 2yrs old.So many years ago, but I never forgot the smile on his face and the joy he brought to all of us. Now may he rest in the heart of God.
