Marjorie E. (Stanley) O'Dowd's Obituary
Mrs. Marjorie E. (Stanley) O'Dowd, 88, a resident of Haverhill, MA., formerly from Lawrence, MA., passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill lovingly surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Born in Lawrence, Mrs. O'Dowd was educated in the Lawrence Schools and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. Mrs. She went on to graduate from Salem State College with a B.S. in Education. Mrs. O'Dowd had worked as a School Teacher at Andover High School for 25 years. She had been a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association. Mrs. O'Dowd enjoyed reading, knitting and especially spending time with her 9 grandchildren. The widow of Joseph A. O'Dowd, members of her family include: a son: Joseph A. O'Dowd and his wife Jeanne of Boxford, MA., daughters: Mary E. Littig and her husband Allan of Pepperell, MA., and Barbara A. O'Dowd of Kennebunk, ME. Mrs. O'Dowd is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Katie, Amy, and Kevin O'Dowd, Danielle and Christy Littig, as well as Maggie, Molly, Emma and Sarah Griffiths. She was grandmother to the late Scott A. Littig. Mrs. O'Dowd is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great great nieces and great great nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 A.M. in St. Augustine's Church in Andover, MA. Burial will follow in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in North Andover, MA., At the request of the family there are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 35 Merrimack St., North Andover, MA.
