Marion V. Laverty's Obituary
Marion V. (Fiedler) Laverty, 91, a former longtime resident of Lawrence, MA, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the Assisted Living Center of Salisbury.
Born in Lawrence, Marion attended the Lawrence Elementary Schools as well as Lawrence High School. She had worked as a licensed Manicurist for various clients. Marion enjoyed baking and was interested in good nutrition. She always liked to look her best and enjoyed wearing hats. Marion also loved dancing especially the tango for which she and her husband won contests.
The daughter of the late Edwin and Agnes (Kennedy) Fiedler, Marion was the widow of the late former Lawrence Deputy Fire Chief Charles W. Laverty who passed away in 2014 and is survived by her son Edwin J. Laverty, R.N. and his wife Nancy of Merrimac, MA, sisters: Claire Guay and her husband William of Salem, NH and Arlene Lindquist of Nokomis, FL, and 3 grandchildren: Elizabeth Laverty of St. Johnsbury, VT, Meredith Winchell of Boxford, MA and Allison O’Shea of Whately, MA. Marion is also survived by 6 great grandchildren: Nora, Charlie and Emilia Laverty of St. Johnsbury, VT and Ella, Lily and Noah Winchell of Boxford, MA as well as several nieces and nephews. She was sister to the late William Fiedler.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 1, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 300 Haverhill St., Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery in North Andover, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, March 31, 2019 from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA. Memorial contributions may be made in Marion’s name to the St. Mary of the Assumption Church Restoration Fund, 300 Haverhill St. Lawrence, MA, 01840.
