Marie E. Corey's Obituary
Marie E. (Dowe) Corey, 91, formerly of North Andover, passed away on Saturday February 3, 2018, at Scripps Encinitas Hospital in Encinitas, California following a short illness.
Marie was born in Lawrence on December 7, 1926, to Robert M. Dowe and Marie E. (Hennessey) Dowe. She was a graduate of the John R. Rollins School, Lawrence High School Class of 1944 and attended Lasell College in Newton, MA. Marie had worked for the former Lawrence Gas Company.
She was a long-time parishioner of St John the Evangelist Church in Encinitas where she was a Eucharistic Minister, member of Altar Society, Senior Group and Volunteer at the church thrift shop.
Marie was an avid sports fan, enjoyed playing bingo, working on puzzle books and being with friends and family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph A. Corey, Jr., who died in 1977, her parents and brother, Robert M. Dowe, Jr.
She is survived by her son, Kevin J. Corey of Methuen; daughters Ellen Corey Born and her husband Peter Born of San Diego, California; and JoAnn Corey of Mission Viejo, California. Brother-in-law Thomas V. Corey and his wife Barbara Corey of Laurel, Maryland; several cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
At her request, services and burial will be private.
