Maria Zorrilla's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maria A. Zorrilla, age 81, of Lawrence, Massachusetts. Maria passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic on July 10, 1944, she was the beloved daughter of the late Agustín Zorrilla and María Gabina Correa. Maria received her early education in her homeland before dedicating herself to a life of hard work, faith, and service to others. She worked for many years in the manufacturing industry and was a devoted Catholic whose faith guided her throughout her life. She also volunteered at the Lawrence Senior Center, where she touched the lives of countless members of the community through her kindness, generosity, and compassionate spirit.
Maria was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was married to the late Manuel Elpidio Medina, and together they were blessed with five children. Following the loss of her husband, Maria courageously raised her five children on her own, providing them with unwavering love, strength, and guidance.
She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her six surviving siblings and her children: Awilda Medina, Marilin Palacios, Rosina Medina, Maria Jasmin Medina, and Jose Medina; her cherished grandchildren: Joneivy, Anthony, Ashley, Daphne, Brandon, Arabella, and Nevaeh; her beloved great-grandchildren: Katalyiah, Eddy, and Keliana; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, Massachusetts.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, 300 Haverhill Street, Lawrence, Massachusetts.
Maria's legacy of faith, perseverance, and unconditional love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Con profundo pesar anunciamos el fallecimiento de María A. Zorrilla, de 81 años, residente de Lawrence, Massachusetts. María partió en paz el jueves 18 de junio de 2026, rodeada del amor de su familia.
Nacida en Santiago, República Dominicana el 10 de julio de 1944, fue la amada hija de los fallecidos Agustín Zorrilla y María Gabina Correa. María recibió su educación básica en su país natal antes de dedicar su vida al trabajo, la fe y el servicio a los demás. Durante muchos años trabajó en la industria manufacturera y fue una devota católica cuya fe la acompañó y fortaleció a lo largo de toda su vida. También fue voluntaria en el Centro de Personas Mayores de Lawrence, donde tocó las vidas de innumerables miembros de la comunidad con su bondad, generosidad y espíritu compasivo.
María fue una madre, abuela, bisabuela y amiga ejemplar. Contrajo matrimonio con el fallecido Manuel Elpidio Medina, y juntos formaron una hermosa familia con cinco hijos. Tras la pérdida de su esposo, María crió sola a sus cinco hijos con valentía, sacrificio y amor incondicional, brindándoles siempre apoyo, fortaleza y orientación.
La recordarán con profundo cariño y la extrañarán inmensamente sus seis hermanos Y hijos: Awilda Medina, Marilin Palacios, Rosina Medina, María Jasmin Medina y José Medina; sus queridos nietos: Joneivy, Anthony, Ashley, Daphne, Brandon, Arabella y Nevaeh; sus amados bisnietos: Katalyiah , Eddy y Keliana; así como numerosos sobrinos, familiares y queridos amigos.
Familiares y amigos están cordialmente invitados a los servicios de velación que se llevarán a cabo el martes 23 de junio de 2026, de 5:00 p.m. a 7:00 p.m., en John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, ubicado en 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, Massachusetts.
