Marguerite Rachel (Gagne) Kalil's Obituary
Marguerite Rachel (Gagne) Kalil passed away peacefully at Lawrence General Hospital, Monday, July 31, 2017 at the age of 92. A vivacious, effervescent woman with a penchant for spreading warmth and laughter to all whom she touched is the daughter of the late Joseph and Eva Gagne. She was born and raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts later residing in Methuen, Massachusetts. She was the loving wife of the late George John Kalil who predeceased her in 1980, loving mother of her two sons Dennis George Kalil and George John Kalil, Jr. and loving mother-in-law to William Max Sr., all of whom predeceased Marguerite.
Marguerite, aka “Nanna and/or Ma” personified the role of matriarch among her extensive family. She loved to cook and host family get-togethers for every holiday and special occasion, and especially enjoyed spending time with all her children and grandchildren. A devout Catholic, Marguerite was an active member of Saint Anthony’s Maronite Church in Lawrence, Massachusetts. She held Presidency of the Daughters of the Sodality and continued to spread her religious beliefs throughout the community as a part of her spiritual vocational work.
“We strongly believe that when someone passes, their life does not end but rather changes. We know that Nanna has reached a place of everlasting peace along Jesus Christ. While we grieve her passing, with our grief comes lightness of hope.”
She is survived by many that love her and will forever hold her dear in their hearts. Her daughters Dianne (Kalil) Max, Sheila (Kalil) DiBurro, Deborah (Kalil) Nicholson and Robyn (Kalil) Hurst; son-in-laws: Joseph DiBurro, Bruce Nicholson and Stephen Hurst Sr.; daughter-in-law: Pauline (Cote) Kalil; grandchildren: William & Susan (Savino) Max, Christopher & Amy (Haire) Max, Tiffany (DiBurro) & David Midolo, Kimberly DiBurro & Kenneth Lamarche, Kelly (DiBurro) & Daniel Tammaro, Tarrah Nicholson & Ramone Concepcion, Kortnee Nicholson, Amanda (Nicholson) & Brianna Goulet, Joshua Nicholson, Stephen Jr. & Rachel Hurst, Tyler Hurst, Ryan Hurst, and George Kalil II along with many great grandchildren.
