Margaret Hyder Fragala's Obituary
Margaret Hyder Fragala was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, great-grandmother, teacher, friend, and one heck of a card player. Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on September 30, 1920, Margaret the youngest of six children was predeceased by her parents Abdullah and Mary Hyder; her two brothers George and Charles, and three sisters Julia, Sadie, and Kitty. She was a proud graduate of Lawrence High School class of 1938 and Regis College class of 1942 -reunions that she never missed. She went on to earn her master's degree in Education from Suffolk University in 1958. She proudly enjoyed talking about her 38 year career in Education teaching in Newmarket, NH, Salem NH, Derry, NH, North Andover, MA, Lawrence, MA and finishing her career at Whittier Regional Technical Vocational High School retiring in 1980. She also was a professional hair stylist working in her family business and later in her own business. Where they specialized in the up do.
Margaret is also predeceased by her husband Andrew F. Fragala, (Lawrence MA) who she married in 1946. They enjoyed a 66 year marriage. They spent the early part of their marriage raising their son Guy Andrew Fragala (The Villages, FL) in Lawrence, MA while summering in their happy place of Seabrook Beach, NH. Upon their retirement they would winter at Whitehall in Boca Raton, FL where Margaret quickly became the social director - possibly swinging Bingo games to benefit the grandchildren.
Along with her son, Margaret leaves behind her daughter-in-law Susan Fragala, her grandchildren Matt married to Amy (Douglas, MA), Maren (Oviedo, FL), and Michael married to Nicole (Epping, NH) and five great-grandchildren, Taylin, Trent, Delia, Delaney and Andrynn. Along with her many nieces, nephews, and godchildren who she loved very much.
Margaret loved to be with her family and friends, she enjoyed being at the beach, fashioning, cooking, teaching, painting, entertaining, and taking your money in a friendly card game.
Funeral services will be held at Brooksby Village Chapel, 300 Brooksby Drive, Peabody, MA, 01860 at 2:00PM on Thursday. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home Inc. 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA, 01841. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Brooksby Village Resident Fund or the Regis College Scholarship Fund.
