Mabel Keegan's Obituary
Mabel Keegan, a longtime resident of Lawrence, passed away at the age of 103 on December 1st, 2019 at the Bear Mountain Nursing Home.
Mabel was born in Worcester, raised in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School class of 1934. Shortly after high school, she began working at the Oxford Paper Company in Lawrence.
She was an avid gardener and decorator. Her home on Ferry St. in Lawrence was her canvas, decorated with all sorts of flowers and ornaments. It was a special place for family, friends and animals. Often they would stop by to say hello as they walked their dog. Mabel would walk “Peppie”, her prized Chihuahua who thought he was a Rottweiler. They made a great team.
Always well coordinated, she enjoyed dancing on Saturday night, shopping with her sisters on Essex Street and having lunch at Morin’s or the family diner.
Mabel was the matriarch of the family who always showed by example a pattern of kindness and selflessness in her approach to life.
Her sisters Mary Roche of North Andover, Theresa Aaronian of Lawrence and nephew Charles Jeffrey Aaronian of Methuen predeceased Mabel.
She is survived by her nieces, Maureen Roche of Lawrence, Patricia Roche of North Andover, Susan Roche Olson of Strafford, New Hampshire and nephews Timothy Roche of North Andover, and Michael Aaronian of Gilford, Connecticut.
Visiting hours will take place at the John Breen Funeral Home, 35 Merrimack St., North Andover on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Following visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. in St. Michael’s Parish, 196 Main St., North Andover. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lawrence.
