Lillian L. Menihane's Obituary
Lillian Loretta (Sullivan) Menihane of Lawrence, Massachusetts passed away on December 29th surrounded by her loving family.
Lillian was born on February 28,1936 to Patrick and Nora Sullivan in Charlestown, Massachusetts. After Lillian graduated from St. Mary’s High School, she went on to work at Jordan Marsh while she attended night classes for typing and speed writing.
In July of 1955, Lillian met James Menihane at Canobie Lake Park for their first date and she went on the ride of her life. Lillian and Jim fell in love and proceeded to get married and have a beautiful family. Her life was a testament to unwavering love, having dedicated herself wholeheartedly to raising her seven cherished children and nurturing the lives of her 15 adoring grandchildren.
A devout Catholic, Lillian found solace and guidance in her faith, shaping her days with grace and kindness. Her proud Irish heritage was a cornerstone of her identity, infusing her life with a deep sense of tradition, resilience, and warmth.
Lilian’s unwavering love, boundless wisdom, and steadfast faith will forever resonate in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her memory will be eternally cherished by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
In honoring Lillian, we celebrate a life with boundless love, a legacy of family, faith, and a spirit that will continue to inspire generations to come. May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love she so generously shared.
Lillian was predeceased by her loving husband James Menihane; son in-law James Nardone; brother in-laws Joseph Holloway and Rev. Daniel J. Menihane, OSA. She is survived by her beloved sister Winifred Sullivan Holloway of Saratoga Springs, NY, brother in-law John Menihane and wife Judy Larmay of Haverhill, MA. Children: Kathleen McCarthy and husband Brian of Mashpee, MA; Eileen Nardone of Harwich, MA; James Menihane, Jr. and wife Mary Abdoo of Salem, NH; Timothy Menihane of Lawrence, MA; Daniel Menihane of Georgetown, SC; Maureen Desfosses and husband Donald of Plaistow, NH; and Christine Bolduc and her husband Martin of Salem, NH. She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and her six nieces and nephews and multiple grandnieces & grand nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Monica's Church, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen, MA. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery on North Lowell St., also in Methuen. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday morning prior to the funeral mass from 8:00 to 9:30 A.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA.
