Lawrence Francis "Sonny" Carey's Obituary
Lawrence Francis Carey, known to his family and friends as Sonny, passed away July 17, 2012 at his home in Lawrence. He was 78. Sonny was born in Lawrence on June 25, 1934 and remained a lifelong resident of the city. His parents were Thomas L. and Mildred D. (Walsh) Carey. He attended the Bruce Grammar School and graduated Lawrence High School in 1951. In 1955 he enlisted in the Army Reserve, was promoted to corporal and received an honorable discharge in 1962. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mrs. Ann Carey; a sister, Mrs. Eleanor Thomson, of Rochester, N.H.; as well as several nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife, Catherine (Varin) Carey and their daughter, Rosemary. A private burial took place Friday, July 27, at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in North Andover.
