Laurence E. Murphy's Obituary
Laurence E. Murphy of Methuen, Massachusetts, “Uncle Larry”
passed away peacefully on December 19, 2020. He was 88 years old.
Laurence was born in Lawrence to the late Russell and Rose (O’Neill) Murphy.
He was a graduate of Lawrence High school. (Class of 1951)
Laurence was the brother of the late Catherine B. and her late husband James D. Sullivan, Jr.
Laurence was the uncle of Maureen R. McGilvreay and her late husband John P., of Londonderry, NH, James D. Sullivan III and his late wife Ileen of Salem, NH, William L. Sullivan and his wife Susan of Dracut, MA, and the late Daniel P. Sullivan of Lawrence.
Laurence was great-uncle of Kerri McGilvreay Reale and her husband John,
Shannon Campaniello and her husband Nick, Erich McGilvreay and his wife Colleen,
Kathryn Sullivan, Julia Sullivan and her husband Larry Dussault, Maura Sullivan and her husband Ben Millis, and the late Margaret Sullivan, Lynn Sullivan, Patti Sullivan, Daniel P. Sullivan Jr. and his wife Jennie, Michael Sullivan and his wife Kara, TJ Sullivan and his wife Shari.
Laurence was great-great uncle of Alex Reale, Quinn Reale, Lucy Campaniello, Ray Campaniello, Emma McGilvreay, Liam McGilvreay, Ellie Pyle, Rowan Millis, Eamon Dussault, Gracie Sullivan, Gavin Sullivan, Harper Sullivan and Logan Sullivan.
Laurence is also survived by many more nieces and nephews.
Laurence was the brother of Paul J. Murphy and Elizabeth Smith, the late William Murphy, the late Russell Murphy, the late Bernard Murphy, the late Charles Murphy, the late Claire Murphy and the late Arlene Hillard.
Laurence worked for the Lawrence Housing Authority for 36 ½ years.
He was truly loved by many and will be deeply missed and will never be forgotten.
Our family would like to thank the staff, at the Nevins Nursing & Rehabilitation Centre in Methuen, for their compassion and friendships to Larry and his family especially during this very challenging time.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the family has decided to have a “Celebration of Life” and services at a later time.
