Jay and I became friends when we volunteered at HC Media over 12 years ago. He was a talented producer/videographer who was generous with his time and assistance. He worked on all of the big Team Haverhill projects with me: Shoe-la-bration, the Essex Street Gateway Mural, River Ruckus, and Possible Dreams. We enjoyed the creative energy that we had together. Jay was especially great at interviews. He was a “people person” and he showed a genuine joy and interest in the people with whom he spoke on his shows. He was also really good at shooting B-roll! Jay was among the top producers at the station taking on the station’s projects as well as his own shows, especially the annual vinyl record shows, music performances, and car shows. He was honored by HC Media with a Lifetime Achievement Award before he went on to pursue other opportunities.
I found a kindred spirit in Jay. We shared the formative influences of the 60s and 70s: the music, the culture, the politics and events. It was fun talking with him, he was so bright and smart.
Jay was a good man and a great friend. He had a big heart and he was kind towards everyone he met. I wish I had more time with him in this life. I will miss him.
