Fr. Joseph X. O'Connor O.S.A.'s Obituary
Fr. Joseph X. O'Connor, O.S.A., died on June 19, 2017 at The Bryn Mawr Hospital, Bryn Mawr, PA. He was 89.
He was a member of the St. Thomas of Villanova Monastery Community. Son of the late John E. O’Connor and the late Elizabeth O’Connor, he was born on May 26, 1928 in Lawrence, MA. Father O’Connor spent 14 years as an Augustinian in Japan and served as pastor in several Augustinian parishes including St. Mary’s Church in Lawrence.
Besides his religious brothers, Fr. O’Connor is survived by his two sisters, Sr. Elizabeth O’Connor, SND and Rita O’Connor as well as nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Fr. O’Connor was predeceased by his siblings Helen Flynn, John O’Connor, Elizabeth McKenna, Marguerite Noonan and Rev. J. Francis O’Connor
Fr. O’Connor will lie in state on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 300 Haverhill St., Lawrence, MA, with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in the Augustinian Lot at St. Mary’s Cemetery, also in Lawrence.
