John J Glendye's Obituary
John "JG" Glendye, age 66, of Salem, NH passed away suddenly on April 13, 2018 at Lawrence General Hospital surrounded by his family.
John grew up on Tower Hill in Lawrence, MA and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1970 where he excelled in hockey and was captain of the team. He worked as a professional truck driver for many years and as a HVAC technician at Callahan Heating and Air Conditioning and also worked for Coady’s Towing Company. John had recently retired from full time employment at Malden Mills. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating and spending time at his favorite getaway in Jackman, ME. A city kid from Lawrence, John fit right in with the locals in Jackman. He was a man of many talents and when not working on his own projects, John was always available to help family and friend with anything. He took care of his mother and father as they got older and most recently enjoyed time spent with his father-in-law Jack.
John was predeceased by his mother Ellen (Hurley) and father James Glendye.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 36 years Nancy (Maclean), brother Phil and his wife Karen and their daughter Jenna and her husband Luke Short, father-in-law-John Maclean and Uncle Joseph Glendye. Survivors also include brothers-in-law John (Jack) and his wife Patricia Maclean and nephew Jake. Kevin and Robin Maclean, nephew Kevin and niece Lauren and her husband Kyle Skov. Sister-in-law MaryJo Longton, her husband Alan and nephews Benjamin and Owen. He leaves behind many very close cousins and good friends and his pet cat Homer. He will be sorely missed.
Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral mass on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish at St. Augustine Chapel, 128 Ames Street, Lawrence, MA, 01841. A burial will follow in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in North Andover, MA.
Friends and family may call on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home Inc. 122 Amesbury St. Lawrence, MA. 01841.
