My son Louis met "Mr. Dore" at STA in Derry. Very quickly he formed an admiration for him that soon grew when he started the "chess club"
Mr. Dore gave my son a special gift of feeling accepted and being able to be included in something that he enjoyed. He made the lessons fun, both in computer and chess. Louie especially had "fun" on the day he announced how he had beat Mr. Dore in a chess game.
Know that he touched many lives in the moments he was with them and in the memories we remember.........

Dear Dore Family. John and I grew up together from toddlers Some of my greatest memories were from when John ' Jim and Myself played together for hours on end. We lost touch in later years but did see each other in later years and would catch up like we never missed a beat. My deepest condolonces go out to you all. John was a good man in and out. I am with you in spirit as I've just had my hip replaced and not ready to venture out that long to attend the funeral. It kills me to not be there physically but I'm sure he knows I'm thee spiritually. John Godspeed , carry on your good works. May He lift you up in his name. You were an exceptional man on earth Love you man.

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. Sensei John was an amazing teacher and mentor for my son Joshua for many years at the Methuen dojo. John always impressed me so much with his deep compassion and kindness, easy laugh, gentle strength, passion, love of life, and wisdom. My family was so fortunate to have known him. Though we only got to experience John's love of teaching (and chess) for a few short years, please know that he made a difference in the lives of each student he had and the teachers he taught with at STA. Mrs. Dore,
We are so sorry for the loss of your dear husband. I remember Grace (and later, William) coming home from Kindergarten and telling stories about how you met your husband for lunch, or the notes he wrote you, and even third-hand I could feel (and remember still feeling it!) how strong and sweet your love was.
