John F. Casey's Obituary
John F. Casey, 66, of Chester, New Hampshire passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 1, 2023.
He was born on August 12, 1956 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, son of the late Francis X. and Geraldine M. (Halloran) Casey. John was educated in the local Lawrence schools and was a graduate of the Greater Lawrence Vocational Technical School. John worked for The Mitre Corporation as an IT Systems Engineer.
He was a member of the New Hampshire Muscle Car Club, of which he enjoyed attending car shows in his award winning 1967 Camaro RS convertible and meeting new people. John enjoyed watching the Bruins and Patriots, but always recorded to avoid having to watch the commercials. For more than 20 years John was known as the “Orange Guy”. He could be found at the top of Heartbreak Hill handing out orange slices and encouragement to all the walkers participating in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk to raise money to fight cancer. He took great pride in finding a unique way to contribute to the cause and in 2015 was awarded the Jimmy Fund Walk Volunteer of the Year for his efforts. John was an incredibly kind man who was always generously offering his time to lend a helping hand or guiding voice on projects big or small for family, friends, neighbors, and sometimes even strangers.
Most of all, John cherished spending time and telling stories of his adventures or the great deals he would find with his friends and family, and especially with his beloved grandchildren who knew him and loved him as “Grampa”
